Vishnu Sahasranama yogam

Vishnu Sahasranama is a list of 1,000 names of Lord Vishnu. It is one of the most sacred and popular stotras in Hinduism. The verses are found in the Anushasanika Parva in the 149th chapter of the great epic, Mahabharata, composed by Sage Veda Vyasa. Vishnu Sahasranama appears as a dialogue between Bheeshma Pitamaha, the mighty grandsire of the Kuru Family and Prince Yudhishtira, the eldest of the five Pandavas. Exhorted by Veda Vyasa towards the end of the war at Kurukshetra, Yudhishtira approaches Bheeshma seeking enlightenment on dharmas. Bheeshma, the constant devotee of Lord Krishna, lying on a bed of arrows, awaiting the scared hour for his departure to the feet of the lord, answers them all in the form of Vishnu Sahasranama.
