The Skanda Purana highlights the profound merit in temple donations:

By donating for the construction or renovation of a temple, one is cleansed of sins accumulated over seven lifetimes. This act of virtue brings relief to forefathers who may be suffering and is among the most auspicious deeds one can perform in life.

Becoming a Sthaladata means joining a revered tradition of giving that carries immense spiritual benefit. In recognition of this generosity, the names of all land donors will be displayed in the temple’s Ananda Mandapam (main hall), forever inscribed as part of this holy place.
