“Sapta Swara Avadhanam” – Seven aspiring writers will each write their thoughts in four sentences. Afterward, they will review the names of 40 unique ragas listed in the 72 Melakarta raga system. Each writer will then assign a raga to an artist. The artist will quickly compose a melody in that chosen raga and sing the lyrics written by the writers, creating an immediate connection between word and melody—this is called Saptasvara Attention.

About the Artist

V N V Ramana Murthy popularly known as Swara Veenapani is born at Ravela village, Guntur dist, Andhra Pradesh. With the blessings and guidance of Parents Sri V L N Sastry, Smt. Sita Annapurnamma graduated in commerce from Nagarjuna University, and obtained B.L degree from Andhra University. Had a short stint as an Advocate with the passion for music overriding the mundane ambitions.

Beginning his music carrier with Viswa Geeta maala as a music director and lyricist, the journey continued with the composition of several devotional and diverse music albums like Aatagadaraa Siva, Sree Venkatesam and Nalona sivudi galadu etc. He entered into the film field as a Music Director and Lyricist with Pattukondi chuddam, MIDHUNAM and Devasthanam etc. to his credit.

More importantly composed Swara Kamakshi and Swara Beejakshari through 18 years research on Indian music basic structure of 72 Melakartha Ragas. These contain the Swara Sthaanas of raga in a short duration and recognised by many Indian music Scholars and Musicologists including Madras Music Academy. This is an encapsulation of the 72 Melakartha Ragas for easy memorizing by current generation and preservation of the roots of Carnatic music for future generation. Veenapani established “Swaranidhi” trust to explore and reach out Indian Music to rasikas all over the world.

Veenapani played 72 Melakartha Ragas 61hrs and 20mnts continuously at London in 2019 and achieved Guinness Book of world Record through hard work for 8 years. Right from the same dais, he has dedicated the same to motherland India and the unparalleled great Indian Music. His goal is to share at no charge, the new Innovative musical scientific 72 Melakartha compositions to one lack students to get the basic knowledge in an easy way and request each and every body who learnt this to share the same to 10 more students. He is also part of the most prestigious event “19th World Summit of Noble Peace Laureates” which took place in Mexico.

Taking the outcome of the innovative research to world audience, has been on world tour Swara Yatra including 4 months at USA and a successful UK trip to promote great Indian music through 48 programmes, lecture demonstrations and workshops.

He has been performing another innovative SAPTASWARA Avadhanam programme to teach and educate successfully about not so popularly sung 40 great ragas in 72 Melakartha in an entertaining mode. He wishes to share this knowledge to entire music student community in all universities in India and all music organisations, institutions etc. strongly believing in “sharing the knowledge is better than gaining the knowledge”.

He has received many awards, accolades and felicitations including one by the 125 years old Alcorn University in Jackson Mississippi state honoured Veenapani for his performance of 72 Melakartha Ragas compositions. Notable among the titles received include “Saptaswara Samrat”and “Melakartha Maestro”

He has dedicated his life to this cause of spreading the knowledge of great Indian Carnatic music to reach everyone and for it to fly high forever.
