Temple Policies
Welcome to our Sri Sivakameswari Devasthanam (Temple).
Devasthanam (Temple) is a sacred place dedicated to divine worship and spiritual harmony. To maintain the sanctity and smooth functioning of temple activities, we request all devotees to kindly follow the guidelines below with devotion and respect.
1. Dress Code
The temple is a sacred spiritual environment where modesty and decorum are important.
- Devotees are encouraged to wear traditional or modest attire suitable for temple visits.
- Long hair should be neatly tied, symbolizing discipline and purity before the Divine.
- Hats or caps are not permitted, especially while taking Prasad or offering prayers, as a mark of respect.
- Shorts, short skirts, leggings, tank tops, or tube tops are not allowed inside the temple.
- During Abhishekam or Archana, those participating should avoid wearing leather articles, which are considered impure in sacred rituals.
2. Photography
The temple encourages devotion and presence of mind rather than distraction.
- Photography and videography are permitted only with prior approval from temple management.
- During puja or ritual services, photography is strictly prohibited to preserve sanctity and avoid disturbance.
- The temple reserves the right to restrict or stop photography at any time without prior notice if it interferes with religious activities.
3. Lighting Lamps
Lighting a lamp symbolizes removing darkness and inviting divine energy — it must be done with care.
- Lamps should be lit only in designated safe areas; these areas may change based on temple activities.
- Please speak to the priest or volunteer before lighting lamps to ensure rituals and safety protocols are followed.
- Spilling oil or ghee on the ground must be avoided, as it can cause slips and fire hazards.
- Devotees may place the lit lamp on a tray or plate, show it to the deity, and then keep it near the designated tray stand at the entrance.
- The temple reserves the right to restrict lamp lighting if safety guidelines are not observed.
4. Food & Prasadam
Food is sacred when offered as Prasadam, and we must treat it with reverence.
- No food or beverages should be taken inside the main temple hall to preserve purity.
- When taking Prasadam home, please use To-Go boxes or one covered plate only to minimize wastage.
- Do not waste or throw away food—accept only what you can consume with gratitude.
- Avoid dropping food on the floor to keep the temple clean and pleasant for all.
- Please allow senior citizens, children, and differently-abled devotees to receive Prasadam first.
5. Cleanliness
Cleanliness is next to Godliness — a clean environment reflects inner purity.
- Always keep the temple premises clean and tidy for everyone’s comfort.
- Dispose of empty bottles, plates, and other items in the designated trash bins.
- Keep restrooms clean and dry; avoid disposing of diapers or inappropriate items in toilets.
- Use water thoughtfully and do not waste it unnecessarily.
- Place footwear neatly on the racks or at the sides of the entrance to maintain orderliness.
6. Observing Silence
Silence allows devotees to experience inner peace and connect with the Divine deeply.
- During Puja, Abhishekam, or Meditation, please maintain complete silence and focus on prayers.
- Minimize personal conversations and avoid phone use inside the temple hall.
- This helps everyone enjoy a calm and spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
7. Wi-Fi Usage
The temple provides Wi-Fi as a convenience, not for entertainment.
- Use temple Wi-Fi only for essential purposes like viewing digital prayers or making online donations.
- Avoid streaming videos, social media browsing, or unnecessary downloads.
- Let the temple remain a space for devotion, not distraction.
8. Car Puja
Car Puja is a symbolic offering seeking divine protection and blessings for your vehicle.
- After the Car Puja, devotees are requested to collect and dispose of all used lemons, coconuts, flowers, and other items properly in trash bins.
- Please ensure that no debris or leftovers are left in the parking area or temple surroundings.
- Let us all help keep the temple environment clean, respectful, and ready for the next devotee.
🙏 Thank You
Your cooperation ensures that the temple remains a place of peace, purity, and devotion for everyone.
Together, let us maintain the temple’s spiritual energy and show respect to our traditions and community.
